Give Your Child a Confident
Start to School
Building the foundation skills, confidence and independence children need to thrive in the classroom.
Ready Steady School is a 4-week programme designed by experienced primary teachers to build the foundation skills children need for school. It’s suitable for children preparing to start school, as well as those who have recently started and need a little extra support with the transition.
Through movement, hands-on challenges, sensory exploration and teacher-guided activities, children develop the foundation skills that help them feel confident, capable and ready to learn.
For children aged 4–6 years.
Maximum 5 children in a group.

Next Programme Starts:
Date: Saturday 10th October
4 Saturdays (10th, 17th, 24th, 31st)
Time: 3-4pm
Venue: Michaels Ave Community Centre, Ellerslie
Has your child already started school?
It's not too late to build the skills they need.
Sometimes it's only once children start school that parents realise just how much is expected of them. Sitting and listening, following instructions, managing belongings, using pencils and scissors, concentrating, working independently and navigating new routines can all be a big step up from daycare or preschool.
If your child is finding the transition harder than expected, Ready Steady School can help.
Our hands-on activities give children extra opportunities to practise these important foundation skills in a fun, supportive environment - helping them build confidence, independence and the skills they need to feel more capable in the classroom.
Ready Steady School is suitable for children who have recently started school as well as those preparing to start.

Why School Readiness Matters
Starting school is one of the biggest milestones in a child's life.
Children who begin school with well-developed foundation skills are often better able to participate in classroom activities, follow routines, manage learning tasks and approach new experiences with confidence.
Building these skills can help children settle more easily and focus on making the most of their learning opportunities.
Why These Skills Matter
Research consistently shows that school readiness involves much more than knowing letters and numbers. Skills such as coordination, attention, self-regulation, communication and fine motor development play an important role in helping children settle into school and engage successfully in learning.
Studies have found that strong school readiness skills are linked with better academic outcomes throughout primary school and beyond.
